Cuttlebug Organiser

I saw a picture of desk tidy/craft storage that I thought would be so useful for my Cuttlebug accessories and sent the link to a friend.  Her dear husband set too and made us each one; what a clever chap!!!

I have been spending time painting and decorating it over the last week and yesterday I actually finished it.  I painted it with a cream/buff coloured acrylic paint and then used some Echo Park co-ordinating papers.  I thought the distressed look would help disguise any grubby fingerprints when I am using it!!!

This is the back - just love this advert paper

And I have used this paper on the sides too

I have used the reverse side of the advert paper on the backs of the top compartments and for the lower drawer.

The drawers, made two layers of really strong cardboard, were the hardest as they needed covering with sticky book covering so that they slid easily and were held together nicely.  I have never managed the art of book covering without a bubble or crease, let alone these little boxes!!!  I just used some of the patterned papers on the front of the drawers.

I am so pleased with this and it will be very useful.  I have displayed a few things in it so that you can visualise the dimensions.

Easter

This is the final card from my February swap parcels and is from my swap with Pat.  I needed some Easter cards for sale at church and thought the bright yellow showed the hope that Easter brings.  I used a stamped image of the Easter cross and coloured with my Promarkers.

Butterfly Tag

Another card from my swap parcel with Terri.  the only thing I used of my my own was a Promarker to colour part of the cutterfly.

Tools

I must admit to wondering what I would do with this image when I received it with my February swap parcel from Pat.  It had a big blank white area in the centre and I toyed with the idea of colouring it but in the end decided to cut round the edge of the stamp leaving a little margin and then mounting some crepe paper from my snippets box behind it.  Crepe paper is fabulous for texture but never easy to stick down ....success, I sandwiched it  LOL.  I decided to emboss the black card I was mounting it onto and then added 4 little white brads.

Pink and Black

Another of the cards made with my swap from Terri.  A lovely pink felt flower topper with a gem in the middle.  I rummaged in my snippets stash and found some black and white flock paper with some touches of silver in there too.  I decided to make an easel card as it is not something I make very often.

I am going to enter this for the following challenges:

You can drive my car!!

Another card from my recent swap with Pat and so this one is in black, white and yellow.  I used some gold peel-offs on the yellow card that I embossed in my Cuttlebug and a white birthday greeting peel off on a plain black square.  The embossing gave it some dimension and a bit more interest.  Just right for a chap's birthday.

Butterfly

Have you go the idea that I love butterflies on cards?  I was really pleased to receive this butterfly in my recent card swap with Terri.  The theme was black, white and one other colour and Terri had chosen red.  I used my cuttlebug to cut a frame shape out of a piece of black card and then embossed it.  I mounted a piece of red crepe behind it and then coloured the gems with my Promarkers as one of the conditions of the swap was that a part of the image needed to be the "one other colour".  It got approval from the boss (pat) anyway :-)  I added a little white bow that was in my swap parcel.

I have put this in the following challenges:

Crochet ... yay

Yes, there is life other than cardmaking, though you may find that hard to believe.  I spend a lot of time knitting for Kids Co and have recently decided to try and crochet for a challenge and a change.

I buzzed off over to the local craft shop in Cuckfield yesterday and joined the crochet drop in club.  I got started on a baby hat and the shop owner and the rest of the group were very good in helping me.  I carried on when I got home but really wasn't happy with the way it looked as the increases seemed to be all in the same place on each row, giving a very pointy bit on the side of the hat.  I am very good at pulling rows undone and back I went to the last row that increased all the way round.  I added another couple of rows of increasing and then crocheted the hat straight after that.  I finished with a loopy edging.

Texture

Another card made from my swap with Terri.  It was such a lovely parcel and I have made so many cards from it.  I originally was only going to use one of the images but I saw my friend Pat use both images on the same card when I was crafting with her that I just had to copy her idea.  I used up the remains of the black and white background paper by cutting with my Cuttlebug Die I had with the machine when it was bought for me.  I chose a simple black square for the corner so I could stamp it with a greeting and then took a piece of wallpaper to cut for the other squares.  The creamy colour didn't so well with the black and white squares and so I ran them through an embossing folder so they were double embossed and then brayered them with black ink.

Silhouette

Yet another card from my recent swap with Terri.  She also included some very bright pink in with her black, white and red.  The silhouette image she included contrasted so well with a scalloped black layer on top of the black and white background paper.  It had such a vintagy feel about it.

Just for you

I love this stamp because I am at long last getting the hang of colouring with Promarkers.  Although it wasn't really what Pat intended when she gave a theme for our card swap (black, white and one other colour) I still like the card.  I love the vibrant yellow card and the black spotty ribbon that Pat sent in the parcel.

Black, white and red

This is another card during a recent stash swap with the theme of black, white and one other colour.  The image was one supplied and it definitely required a fine tip Promarker to colour the cravat and the hatband on the straw boater.  I cut a couple of border strips out of red card and mounted the image on red card too.

Hedgehogs in the snow

I have had this image lying in the stash box for a long time and thought it would go well with this snowflake paper I had in my recent black, white and one other colour (red, this time) swap from Terri.  I was really pleased with the final effect of the card.

Balloons

Here is another card from the black/white/yellow swap parcel.  I really enjoyed colouring this with my Promarkers.  I found out afterwards that Pat had only wanted us to use yellow on the image but oh well, I liked my image anyway.

Up in the air

This card was made from the February swap package from Pat.  She had set the challenge and chose black, white and one other colour with at least part of the image being coloured with the other colour..  My parcel contained black, white and yellow.

I don't often make black cards but the white diecut shape included in the package just cried out to be laced on black and thus a CAS card was born.  I delved around my stash box and found the "ribbon" that I used at the lower edge of the card and then found the butterfly image to stamp on the diecut.  I coloured some of the image with yellow.

That time of year

It wasn't long after the Christmas sales were over that the local supermarket had their Valentine gifts and cards out.  They seem to centre mainly around red and black so I decided to raid the stash and see what I could find.  Whilst browsing through my Advent swap stash I found this lovely diecut heart quickly followed by the paper ....... instant win.  Wonder who the lucky fella will be!!

Wrapped with love

This is the final card I made from Terri's January swap parcel.  I made 5 in total but am sure I can make more but we now have the February swap parcels and so January's has been put away for another day.

The papers were in the parcel and I found an image to colour with Promarkers and the sentiment was from our Advent swap.  I won the rubber stamp for a blog challenge; he is so adorable.  Mother's Day. Thank You, Birthday or even to go with a pressie for teacher ....such a versatile image.

Just a quick simple card that I shall enter in CHNC Challenge Anything beginning with P also CHNC Christmas challenge Extra:  Anything Goes and also Pixie's Crafty Workshop Snippets

The poinsetta was cut from a Christmas card and then rest of the card was from snippets of paper and card in my snippets box.

Swap 2: Card 6

This is the final card I have made from Pat's parcel.  I still have several bits left and I may make more yet as indeed I may make more from Terri's parcel.

Apart from the little green buttons that I was given recently, all the way from Hawaii (thank you Paul and Kari), everything came from my swap parcel.  It was such a pretty background paper and not at all difficult to team up all the bits.  I coloured the image with Promarkers.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

A Gem of a challenge:  Gingham or checks
Simon Says Stamp:  Anything goes

And so on to the next swap parcel.  I shall open in over the weekend and choose bits from my stash that might be useful and then will have another lovely crafting day with Terri on Monday.

Pick up a Penguin

Very simple but I think it is quite effective all the same.  I heat embossed the penguins and used peel off greeting and stars.  I used some green backing card for behind the swiss dots embossed background.  I used another piece of it for the band across the card and yet another piece for the mat and layering.  Not exactly your traditional colouring for Christmas but I quite like it for a change.

Swap 2: Card 5

I had a lovely selection of pink papers in my parcel and chose the striped pink for the background here.  I found an offcut of plain paper to contrast with it and ran it through the Cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder.  I found a plain white diecut that I had been given a while ago so that I could get a nice contrast between the rose embellishment and the checked diecut shape; both the latter were in my swap parcel, as was the pretty ribbon.

I soo love this card and will be just right for several celebrations:  anniversary, Mother's Day, Valentine.

Swap 2: Card 4

What a cute image I found in my swap parcel, just right to colour in with my Promarkers.  I chose some shades that matched the background paper and I cut it with my circle Nestabilities die so that it would fit behind the scallopped checked paper.  It is checked but doesn't show up very clearly in this photo.  I chose some dark card out of my offcuts box and cut it with my circle die as I wanted some contrast between the layers.  I used a piece of ribbon to mount the topper onto and I carried on the theme of circles and used a button in each corner.

Swap 2: Card 3

Still on the pink swap and this time I used papers and card from the swap.  The image is one that I had received in an Advent swap.  I coloured him with Promarkers, trying to pick colours from the background paper.  I think it would make a great Contratulations, Well Done or birthday card.
